I have been a part of  several matte finish jobs- both 1 and 2 stage paints. I have liked the effect of matte metallic finishes, but honestly can't picture matte candy- seems to me that you would loose the depth that candy is all about? Maybe spray out some samples and see what you think. Share what you come up with; you have my interest.

I was a painter for a spell and I agree 100% with deaconjwh. I think you will kill the candy with the matte finish. You will probably just end up with a matte red Jeep (which would still be cool) but, you will have paid more than if you just did a matte red without the candy base. If you have the contacts, Ask a body shop to do a couple of spray out sample cards of candy basecoat without clear. Then try out different top coats on your own. Your question will be answered at a fraction of the cost. Good luck and please keep us posted

I've seen a number of attempts at matte candy colors. None I would have been myself terribly pleased wit. The shop I used to live near uses Matrix. Candy does have a lot of depth done properly. Hope you're able to find something that you will like.
