Hi

Has anyone got the paint code and formula for the SGT Rock Metallic green colour? They don't provide this information on the website anymore unfortunately. I am hoping someone downloaded the information before they removed the pages from the website.

Thanks in advance for any help

Steve,

I shot an email to Stacey with this request.  Once I get an answer, I'll forward it on to you here.
That way there will be a new record for that info.

Excellent Jim - thank you

Hopefully you have better luck than I did. I did go directly to the website, couldn't find the information so I thought must be in the paid members section - signed up - but no?

I then emailed the the folks at GEARZ - got a reply which was go to this paint company - no code or formula just go there they supplied it. I email that company but again no luck. And here we are looking or the code and formula [smile][smile][smile]

So fingers crossed you get the information, and it will help others looking for it as well. There is a quite a bit of traffic on the web with people looking for it - but no cigar lol

dubvalman, I did some archive searching on the web as I have been watching Stacey since he was "Trucks". I do know that the color is named "Sgt Rock Metallic" I also think it is a ppg color. Try calling : Auto Body Color and Supply of Nashville, Tennessee 615-726-0361 as they have provided color for the "Copperhead" truck and some other projects on Gearz. Another source might be Tennessee Guitar as they matched a guitar to Sgt Rock so, they might know the color. I hope this puts you in the right direction, Mike

Hi Mike

Thank you for your efforts, I did check the website, forums and postings before going direct to the Gearz folks. No luck with any of those routes. I tried PPG, they never bothered to reply, despite several emails. I am talking with Frank at Tennessee Guitar at the moment and he is trying to get information from Stacey David.

All in all not a very impressive response from the Gearz people, I also contacted them several times about out of stock items and when they would be restocked/available again - no reply. I contacted them about the paint colour based upon the insistence of the tv show host that the information is freely available on the website - nothing positive came of that interaction. It is like once you have paid your subscription they have no interest in you from that point.

Please forgive my moaning here but I am really unimpressed with the GEARZ experience. To bad as the show is informative - it's a real shame they are completely uninterested in following through on their sales pitches.

Steve I called the fore mentioned  Auto Body Color and Supply of Nashville, Tennessee. It is not a ppg color but they do in fact have the formula as they did make it.

Hi Mike - you are a champion, I call Brandon just now and I am now in possession of the famous paint formula.

I will get that to my paint guy and fingers crossed my 1962 Valiant SV1 will look a stunner in its new colour.

Thank you so much for your efforts and the help.

Best regards
Steve

Quick update on the illusive Sgt Rock Metallic paint colour.

If you are NOT in the US, then forget it, PPG who claim to be an international country - are only inter-Nation. I tracked down the formula with the help of Mike (thank you so much) only to hit another big speed bump; PPG DO NOT have an international paint colour/tint range. It has proved not possible to get the tints required in Europe and more importantly to me - Ireland........ bummer!

I then considered to follow Mikes suggestion of buying one of the models to get the colour in the hope it can be used as a colour chip and from that I may be able to produce a substitute colour using another manufacturers colour system. Should this prove to be a solution I will post their formula here.

The quest continues!

Steve, Have you considered calling Brandon and seeing if he can sell the paint directly to your body shop? Or asking him to cross-match the formula to a brand that is sold in the U.S.A. and Ireland. Just a thought. Mike
